PRÉSENCE
ACP - Palazzo Franchetti, Venice
22 April - 15 May 2022
showing of the installation by Wim Wenders
Palazzo Grassi, Venice
22 - 23 April 2022
Claudine Drai, sophisticated French artist who has always investigated the relationship between the material and immaterial, between presence and absence, returns to Venice with an unprecedented project after the success of the exhibition "Le lien des mondes" in 2017.
This new project involves the genius of cinema Wim Wenders with a movie dedicated to the artist shown at the Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi and ACP - Palazzo Franchetti, in the fascinating spaces of the second Noble Floor, which today hosts, as well as exhibition halls important, also the Giorgio Morandi Library.
As in 2017, when the exhibition project "Le lien des mondes" was based on the interaction between contemporary art, poetry, culinary art and high fashion, bringing together the starred chef Guy Martin, the fashion designer Hubert Barrère and the writer Olivier Kaeppelin alongside the artist, also on this occasion the exhibition is full of contaminations between different worlds and draws strength from this synaesthesia of creative voices.
In conjunction with the exhibition set up at ACP - Art Capital Partners - Palazzo Franchetti, San Marco 3260, the installation "Présence" by the German director Wim Wenders will be presented for the first time to the public. It explores the artistic universe of Claudine Drai.
On 22 April screening at 5.00 pm. On 23 April two 35-minute screenings at 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm. Admission subject to availability.
The installation shot in 3D between 2020 and 2021 explores the artistic universe of Claudine Drai through an evocative rather than narrative visual story, thus creating a unique work.
Wim Wenders was mesmerized and deeply moved by Claudine Drai's work when he first met her. He felt his art unique and distinctly different from anything he had ever seen, yet so highly emotional and evocative.
On the one hand, the director felt a desire to learn more about this mysterious spiritual realm made mostly of paper. On the other hand, Claudine Drai instead felt she could trust Wim Wenders with his fragile and poetic world. In their subsequent conversations and meetings they therefore decided to venture together into an unknown territory, going beyond a simple vision, giving life to a common creation, different from any cinematographic category and free from existing rules or forms of art.
While preserving the mystery of the film, the exhibition realized by ACP - Art Capital Partners in collaboration with Clavé Fine Art gallery is a first glimpse into the world of Claudine Drai.
Claudine Drai

Over the years, she has created worlds and spaces in which the feeling of the matter awakens all of our senses. The nature of her art is the transformation. She created a great number of artworks for public commissions, in particular a monumental sculpture for the hall of the Saint-Camille hospital in Bry-sur-Marne (Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation patronage). In 2008 she drew a triptych in tissue paper and pigments on canvas for the ecumenical space in the airport of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle: an universalistic work that establishes a connection between the three monotheistic religions.
